British Western Red Cedar Waney Edge Cladding

British Cedar Waney Edge Cladding features live knots with bark remaining on one edge for the ultimate traditional rustic look.

Home-grown, British Western Red Cedar Waney Edge Cladding features one straight sawn edge and one edge left to the profile of the tree, often including the bark. This cladding offers the most natural look of all the claddings we offer.

Waney Edge is the most traditional form of cladding. The boards are secured to overlap each other resulting in the waney edge showing and the square edge hidden at the top.

British Western Red Cedar is a characterful timber which includes knots. It has a light reddish-brown colour. It is easy to work with and is more stable than many other softwood due to the fact that it rarely shrinks or twists and has excellent thermal properties. It is highly suitable for exterior cladding but is equally suitable for use as an internal cladding.

British Western red cedar contains many natural oils which give it a long life. If left, it turns to a silvery grey colour, however you can treat your Cedar in order to stop it from weathering,

UV protection oils are available,  which will help preserve the original colour of the timber for longer. We recommend you apply the product before you secure your cladding.
